What a privilege it is to be a part of someone's wedding day. This summer I had the opportunity to be involved in three weddings.
An Emotional Wedding
The first was my dearest friend from college. This girl has endured hardship and loss in ways that most of us cannot imagine. Her story reminds me of Job - throughout her suffering she continued to praise God and trust that God is in control. My faith pales in comparison. For years I've cried for her and prayed for her. I've wasted hours being angry with God, asking when is enough enough? How much can one person endure?
This beautiful August day closed an emotional chapter. It was a day of blessings and praise. To see my beautiful friend cherished by a loving husband, to see this lovely man take on her battles, committing to care for her and to love her for the remainder of their lives - was one of the sweetest and most profound scenes I've ever experienced.
A Beautifully Unique Wedding
The second wedding was that of my sweet friend, Nicola, whom I became great friends with in our years at Pier 1. Nicola is one of the most grounded people I know, so when she agreed to marry Mikel, I had no doubt that this marriage would be successful.
The wedding, held at Beau Lodge, was so cheery and was faithful to the unique styles of the bride and groom - vintage, bright, and natural.
My Sister's Handmade Wedding
We married off Bethany a couple of weeks ago! Honestly I could not have picked a better husband for my baby sister. We've considered David a part of our family for four years now, and were thrilled to welcome him officially.
It was a wedding on a budget so I spent the majority of my summer crafting, experimenting with cake recipes, and thrift store shopping. Everything was handmade, repurposed, or antique. The wedding was held at a historic hotel on Orcas Island. These photos I borrowed from friends on Facebook. When I get hold of the official photos I will post much more about this event!
